I was very curious to meet Oomomo, a Japanese-style dollar store that opened in Toronto in recent months.
Unfortunately it’s not near my house.
Or rather, maybe fortunately because I would spend all my money there, hehe.
When we talk in dollar store in Canada it is impossible not to compare with Dollarama, the most traditional of the country.
And I must confess that Oomomo has surpassed all my expectations and proved me that there is a nicer store than Dollarama.
Except for some sections, Oomomo offers more variety of products.
Prices are not limited like in Dollarama (everything costs at most $ 4), but most things cost only $ 2.
So much so that they do not even use labels for them. If you find a label on the product, it determines the value. If you do not find it, it costs just $ 2.
Simple as that.
But what do we find there that makes it so special?
To begin with, you’ll find many Asian products.
Several of them have the Daiso sticker, famous Japanese dollar store.
You can also find labels from other Asian stores.
Many of the products are Japanese, but we also find Koreans (mainly in the beauty section), Chinese, Taiwanese, etc.

Hygiene & Beauty
In this area we find many Korean products.
It’s a dream to explore the shelves because you can find a lot of good things.
Obviously, it has a very large variety of masks.
Here’s a lot of stuff over $ 2, but overall, it’s pretty cheap.

Food
We love exploring the food section!
Anything that seems to taste differently makes us want to try it.
There you find many snacks and also sweets.
The drinks part is also great, where you find coffee and of course green tea.
We bought several things without knowing what it was because it was difficult to identify by the packaging.

Oh my God, stationery …
I did not think I’d ever get out of there.
There are many different things that we can not find easily at Dollarama.
For example, there is a single section of stamps and another only of stickers.
We also found material for planners and calligraphy.

Craft
Another area I love!
I must admit Dollarama is not far behind.
But I would say that in Oomomo it is easier to find more than one brand of the same thing. This is not common with Dollarama.

Artificial flowers
In this section, point to Dollarama.
Oomomo has little variety of flowers and looks more artificial than those found in Dollarama.

Pets
It was also a disappointment.
Few options for toys and accessories.
There was practically nothing for big breeds.
Tableware
In the area of tableware we find a lot of cool stuff.
It had several models of dishes, bowls and mugs. I just found great dishes.
Obviously, it had a variety of oriental tableware.
Kitchen
The kitchen utensils could be a separate store.
How interesting was this section!
From indispensable articles in our routine like gadgets ingenious to make our life easier.
There we even found rolls to roll sushi, shape to shape rice, and many other things we did not even understand what they were for.

Organization
It must be Marie Kondo’s favorite store!
There was a lot of organization. From office supplies to articles to organize closets and pantries.
Bags
Oomomo has an incredible variety of handbags.
There you will find ecobags, handbags and thermal bags.
Highlight also for the purses.
