And I’m still decorating the apartment… I had already talked about that here e here.
Well, there were still a few details left for me to consider the living room complete… and to be honest, it’s still missing somethings… but I’d say, it’s pretty much complete.
As I had already said, the idea was 1) to make the house look more like our home and 2) to color the room a bit.
To continue our “coloring”, the main purchase was an Ikea mustard rug. Never before had it crossed my mind to have a mustard rug in the room until I saw one and fell in love.
Mustard helped me a lot to color the area and, to tell the truth, not just specifically my living room. This color is very prominent but very easy to match with others, which makes it excellent as a second accent color in almost any room.

In addition to the rug, we bought pillows in the same color. If we had just placed the carpet it would be lost in the room. It would be like a feeling that something was out of place. But as the rug occupies a relatively large area in the living room, other articles need to be smaller. The pillows were perfect to fulfill this role.

Lu Tip: To harmonize the rug we could also have used other (small) mustard decorations.
We also replaced the black blanket on the couch with a lighter one. In fact, having a blanket is essential for us because of Syrah, who likes to lie on the couch. With a blanket we avoid excess dog hair.

I had also mentioned that we wanted to complete the entire length of the room with the niches. Well, we could finally do that by buying one more kallax furniture from Ikea. The result was amazing because finally the setup made sense.
But there is one detail you can see in the photo below: a glass that does not complete the length of the furniture. Well, summarized story: this glass is left over from my home office decor (future post) and we put it in the living room as an experiment. We liked it a lot, but we need to buy one more so the furniture has glass end to end.
The good news is that the length of the glass is exactly half the length of the niches we have, so when we buy the second one we can complete the furniture perfectly. The bad news is that it means my living room design is not yet complete.
But do you know what my favorite purchase was so far? The dining table chandelier! We found it at Ikea and it was really a love story: my husband and I saw this chandelier at the same moment and immediately looked at each other with that “you already know we need this chandelier, right?” look. The result you know from the photo.
I know it’s kind off topic, but let’s talk about the kitchen. I’d like to share another purchase I loved: our new kettle. We bought a beautiful toaster a few months ago and then discovered that there was a kettle from the same collection. So we had to buy it, right?
