When I showed you How was the decor of my living room here at home, I said that one of the next steps would be to paint some pots that I had of Ikea in golden.
These vases were bought two years ago, when we decorated the living room of the other apartment. Since then I had the idea of decorating them or placing them inside other more decorative pots. When I had some painting left from the living room table DIY, I already knew what to do: it was time to take this task from my list!
So I took advantage of a sunny day to paint the vases on the porch. I wasn’t that difficult, I just lined the table and protected the railing so I wouldn’t have to solve stains problem later!
Ikea pots have an artificial grass that can not be removed. My solution was to cover the grass with plastic (yes, I used the dog’s poop bags) before applying the spray.
I wore latex gloves and held the vase some 30 cm away, avoid getting too close to this because otherwise it could get too much paint and start to drain.
It was very quick to do, the vases needed only a coat of paint and then dried in a few hours in the sun.
The result was even better than I expected. The ink layer was homogeneous even with just one application.
I highly recommend this DIY to anyone who wants to modify simple pots and turn them into decorative pieces. They got a lot nicer on my shelf.
