There are some classic items for each season. So needed that sometimes it can be boring. Let’s face it: we get excited when it’s time to start using sweaters but after some weeks we can’t stand them anymore. Especially if you have a lot of basic ones.
That’s why this DIY is so useful, besides fun. You can get an old and boring sweater and transform it into a new interesting piece. The best part? It’s a really easy DIY! You don’t even need a sewing machine for that.

I got a sweater I had for years (by the way, I have 3 different colors of the same sweater, lol) and opened its back to make it a bit more loose. I have attached some ribbons but you can do it with strips, fabrics, and other things.
So if you want a fun DIY for a cloudy day to appreciate an old sweater again, just follow these steps.
What you’re gonna need

- An old sweater
- Ribbon (I used a 2m roll)
- Scissors
- Pins
- Thread and needle
Step by Step

You can start making some bowls with the ribbon (if you want to).

Sew the bows.

Fold the sweater in half.

You can use a pin to mark the spot you have to start cutting.

Cut as deep as you want. (I put on the sweater, looked at the mirror and marked it with a pin where I wanted to end the cut)

I placed the ribbons where I wanted them. I folded the ends together for a clean finish.

Then I sewed the ribbons and the hem all the way down.
