Look for books with tricks to grow on Instagram and you'll find several. Most of them will teach you tactics (sometimes ethical) to grow at all costs on the social network.
The problem with these hacking books is that they are based on something I can not help but criticize: simple knowledge of a tool. Let me explain: some people learn how a tool works - in this case Instagram - and create tactics to take advantage of the situation and grow numbers quickly.
And you may be wondering, "But is not that good?" It's good in the short term or if you want to be satisfied with vanity metrics (number of followers, likes, etc.) but it sucks if you want to build something solid, be it an influential career or a business.
People who only know the use of the tool use hacks, smart people use strategy. Who do you think will succeed?
So when I happened to find the book Authentic Hashtag, by Sara Tasker, on Amazon I was quite curious. It seemed to be completely different from the countless books that promise miracles on Instagram.
Simply put, the author tells us about her creative process and how it could help her grow her community on Instagram.
Yes, community. This is different from just followers.
When you grow strategically - prioritizing the quality of relationships over the amount of interactions you are able to build a solid foundation. I never tire of saying: is worth more 100 followers who love you and pay attention to what you do (or rather, buy what you offer) than 100 thousand followers who like your photos just because they appear in their feed.
And for me, Sara's great merit in this book has been to reverse the prevailing order of reasoning: instead of focusing on attracting a lot of people to see your content, the ideal is to focus on your content to attract people interested in it.
Do you know why this order is not the most used? Because it is not the quickest way. And in times when the content is evaluated by the number of likes and not by quality, the pressure to produce what brings you the most recognition in the short term is big.
I myself need to be very careful about this because I'm always asking myself "but if I post this it will not have many likes" and reading this book helped me get back on track.
Reading the author prioritizing the production of content and, above all, content that we liked was like a breath of hope for me.
But the book is not a manifesto for better pictures, it's far from it. It's an inspiring read (at least it helped me stay focused on quality) but also a photography manual geared towards Instagram.
Sara exposes several concepts of Photography that help beginners to take better photos. And for those who already have these concepts, the book's advantage is to bring them into the context of Instagram. That is, how these concepts adapt to the social network.
She also tells some tricks and shows her process of producing and editing photos, which helps a lot who wants to know how to make better photos on Instagram. By the way, it doesn't show a recipe to be copied, but rather teaches the concepts so the reader can develop their own style.

Who ins't Hashtag Authentic book for
For those who want to learn fast-growing hacks and don't care about producing quality content or growing a loyal following base.

My Review of Hashtag Authentic
I loved the book. I have an MBA and am a Marketing Specialist, so I hate seeing people distorting classic (and proven) marketing concepts with tricks that only work for a few months.
For me every enterprise must be built on a solid foundation. Our strategy needs to be clear and long-term. Every successful entrepreneur knows this.
