It’s Valentine’s day! Do you love the most romantic day of the year as much as we do? To start our celebrations this year, hubby and I enjoyed a chocolate fondue last night.
I’m so glad Green & Black’s sent me a selection of their chocolates (and some incredible surprises) so I could set up a table of treats for us.
And I didn’t even need to worry about the wine pairing, as they included a simple guide to choosing the perfect wine for each chocolate type. I just had to answer a quiz made by the renowned Canadian sommelier Angela Aiello to decide which wine to pair with our fondue.
Some quick tips I got from her to pair my Green & Black’s: Milk Chocolate goes perfect with sparkling wine; Sea Salt Chocolate makes an amazing combination with Riesling; White Chocolate gets even better with Pinot Noir; and Toffee Chocolate with Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for a date night!
For our date night we chose Green & Black’s Milk Chocolate with some bubbles (it can’t get more romantic than this right?). To dip into the chocolate fondue I got strawberries, grapes, raspberries and marshmallows.
After giving some thought I decided to make a “brigadeiro-version” fondue. Brigadeiro is a traditional Brazilian treat made with chocolate, condensed milk and butter (I can share the recipe someday, if you want it).
If you want to make this fondue, it’s super simple and takes less than 5 minutes:
- Blend 150ml of condensed milk with 1TB of butter in a small pot at a low heat.
- When the butter is melted, turn the stove off and ad 90g (a bar) of Green & Black’s Milk Chocolate cut into small pieces.
- Transfer to a fondue pot and serve.
The secret of a good fondue is to choose a good quality chocolate. Green & Black’s chocolates are perfect for that as they are expertly crafted with hand-selected, ethically sourced cocoa beans and the finest ingredients from around the world. The result is a smooth and rich taste.
