I think one of the great curiosities that we Brazilians have about living in other countries is knowing if we can find the same products from Brazil.
I am in favor of exploring new possibilities, discovering new flavors, spices and customs. So I never complained about shopping at a Canadian grocery store.
But I confess that sometimes I miss a product or another and knowing that there is a place where I can find them makes me more calm, you know?
That is why I decided to confirm what many have already told me: that the Our Butcher market in Toronto sells the most wanted products for us Brazilians abroad.
O Nosso Talho – which has been around since 1974 – is not very big, but the product offerings seem to be pretty good.
They certainly do research to find out what is most wanted because, even if they do not have the same quantity as a local supermarket, they have, say, the right products.
My biggest curiosity was to know if they sold guaraná and yeah, they sell Guarana Antarctica!
Another pleasant surprise was finding Forno de Minas cheese bread and tapioca.
Some products I do not ask much because I already have my favorites here, like rice and beans for example. But I know that many Brazilians die of longing for Brazilian brands.
Prices are good. I hoped they could take advantage and charge more, but they charge the fair.
Maybe for those in Brazil, prices seem high, but they are well matched with the same products from other brands here in Canada.
Besides Brazilian products, there are Portuguese products – that’s the origin of Nosso Talho – and other countries in Latin America.
