SHOP MY INSTAGRAM FEED
Sundays should always be beautiful. And by beautiful I mean everything that results in beautiful photos. I know a lot of people will judge this statement as superficial so let me explain myself:
I strongly believe beautiful photos on Instagram should not be the main goal but instead they can work as a scale for a “beautiful life”. If at the end of the day you got photos you love, it’s an indicator that you had a day you loved, right?
That being said, Nügateau is the perfect place to add some color to my day (and Instagram as well) as they make well decorated and colorful eclairs. By the way, they’re also delicious.
Cris and I went to the main location at Queen St W (you can find them at Hudson’s Bay as well). It’s a beautiful, simple shop where the eclairs can shine. There’s a marble display with all the pastries lined in a pleasant way for the sight. If you’re a visual person like me you’ll spend some time deciding what you want because you can’t concentrate on only one.
I chose the Isabelle ($7.50), with whipped white chocolate and pistachio ganache because you know, I love pistachio! The ganache was fresh and I could feel the natural pistachio flavor contrasting with the raspberry compote on top. It also comes with a shot of raspberry coulis so you can spread it as you want.
Cris ordered one made of ruby chocolate (I’m sorry, we can’t remember the name). It was our first time tasting this kind of chocolate. As the reviews I read about it before said, it’s less sweet than milk chocolate and that’s why Cris loved it so much. We both usually prefer “not so sweet” treats but he’s the one who loves dark chocolate. I’d rather have milk or white chocolate.
Anyway, it’s a good option for those who think chocolate eclairs are too sweet.
As I said, the place is beautiful but a bit small. I’d love to have more space to enjoy my eclair comfortably. You can sit at one of the few small tables but I’d say maybe it’s better to have them at home. You can buy it online and pick it up there if you want.
This visit really made our Sunday and you’re gonna go back there in the near future for sure.
