You already know brunches are my favorite weekend things! As you also know my hubby and I are in a search for the best Eggs Benedict in Toronto. Last Saturday was the time to taste the new Ascari Enoteca at King St W, here in Toronto.

We didn’t plan to go there (we almost never plan our weekends, lol) but we found it when we’re passing by. Sometimes it’s hard to find places to eat during TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) because a lot of restaurants are closed for private parties. So let’s say we were starving when we finally saw this place.

The waitress commented that they are still testing the menu and when we went it was the first day serving Eggs Benedict ($ 18). We were lucky!

They serve the eggs with potatoes, prosciutto and focaccia (what a great idea!) We loved the seasoning they used, but we couldn’t identify what it was. I could feel the chives but besides that there were some fresh herbs that made the dish fresh.

Although the price is a little more expensive than other brunches we’ve been to in the same area, we found the food was up to it. You can tell they use good quality ingredients.

I usually only have coffee for brunch, but this time I tried Aperol Spritz ($ 10) and I think I’ll include it more in my next brunches. It’s sweet yet refreshing.

Cris ordered a cappuccino and was surprised how Italian it was. He said it tasted like coffees he had in Italy (his actual words).

The place was nice. We didn’t actually enter as we wanted to enjoy what could possibly be the last warm weekend to be outside. The patio is gorgeous, with beautiful tables and dense plant pots.

We want to go back there another day to eat inside because I think it must be beautiful as well. And next time we want to taste the dinner menu.
