My husband and I love French cuisine and I have already posted about Le Select Bistro in Toronto here. So I got super excited last Saturday when he invited me to go to Cluny Bistro, in the Distillery District.
We were there for an afternoon coffee once and got impressed by the beauty of this place. Actually it’s divided into two: Cluny Boulangerie and Cluny Bistro. Now it was about time to try the bistro.
The menu is what you would expect from a French bistro: short but with all the classics. My husband got the Steak & Frites ($26.90 – $39.90) and said it was delicious. I had a taste of his fries and I have to say: one of the best I ever had in my life. They season it with herbs to perfection.
I ordered the Pepper Pot Bourguignon ($ 33.90) and loved it. It has a sweet spice taste and I found the dish lighter than I expected for something with lamb.
Cris’s dessert – Cluny Rocher ($ 14.50) – came in a beautiful dish and was also delicious. Look how beautiful this is:
Instead of dessert, I ordered a cheese platter. It was not on the dessert menu, but like every good French restaurant, if you ask, they prepare one for you. It was the best way to finish our dinner.
This restaurant was everything we expected: a romantic ambiance for a date night with great food. I recommend it if you want to have a romantic dinner with your significant other or even celebrate a special occasion.
